Visual aid implemented in cane

When blind people come outside to do daily tasks, they most often make use of a white cane. This cane helps them to detect obstacles, but is also useful to make it clear to surrounding people that this person is in fact blind. Since blind people use this cane anyhow, I think it would be a good idea to design our system this way that it fits inside such a cane. The treshhold for any blind person to use our system will be lower this way. The holding end of the cane would have a jack output for earphones, and a further expansion of this system might take use of vibration to indicate the presence of obstacles to the blind person.
